Topic: Emergency Communications in Utah
Utah has over 30 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) where 911 calls are routed. Mr. Wolford will discuss how 911 calls are routed, how the location of the caller is determined, interoperability among the PSAPs, and who pays for this service and new technology. Scott Wolford is the Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) for the Department of Technology Services with the State of Utah. In this position Scott is responsible for promoting best practices in achieving interoperable communications throughout the state. He is also the program manager for all emergency communications interoperability grants in the state.
